CNET's Tech Today App Reviews

Update: theyve fixed my (and others) main gripe with the app. The app is still beautiful and still brings the top 10 tech news of the day, but now you can read the entire article within the app (as opposed to being sent to the CNET app). Because of this Im raising the review to 5 stars from 4. I have yet to see if the app will shift me from my article if I dont finish it the day its published, but Im hopeful that it wont. The Good: I love how the app brings 10 (mostly) interesting stories each day. The design is visually appealing and makes you want to read the stories. You have two options of reading. You can read the first few paragraphs to get the overall gist of the story or open the full story within CNET. Also, no downloading of the stories for offline reading. Personally, I like to read on the plane, but there is no option for offline reading of full articles. The Bad: If you opt to open the full story you dont start where you left off. The app opens to the beginning. Its be better if the app just expanded the rest of the story within app so that you could continue reading where you left off. Another downside, for me, is that it only updates once a day--unlike Yahoos Digest (which this is clearly based on) that updates twice a day. Also, if you were mid-read on an article, but didnt finish reading it the day it was published, the app will automatically refresh when you open it next. Meaning you lose the article that you were reading. Itd be nice to have the option of refreshing at a time of your choosing. Or saving an article for a later read. In Conclusion: this is a great app, with great stories and a lot of opportunity for improvement. Well worth the download. In fact its on my homescreen.

Now that I can see the full article inside the app, the tool is even better, great update for a great app.

The layout is really nice. It allows you to save the articles that you find interesting in Notes for easy reference if you want. No issues crashing at all.

Hell yes: Now you can read the full articles right in the app. Full disclosure: I work for CNET. That said, I really do like this app. Way easier to catch up on the news compared to our previous app.

While I still make the trip over to CNET Main this is excellent for information junkies - well done.

Easy to browse and it great to have a digested version of tech news.

My Lord, the changes to the email news digest were horrific. Its now just a bloated photo/video gallery that I have to scroll through. Thank God for this app, which focuses on curating the days most interesting tech articles I can read on the go or at my desk. Making all the content native was a good move. Now just give me an iPad native mode so I get a larger reading area, and Ill be set!

One of the best apps I have!!! It is easy to use and relevant in todays world, keep it up!!

This app is a great new app and is the best tech reading experience in the app store right now. I would say the only thing is they need to have the ability to expand with more articles inside the app, along with the ability to, after clicking on a gallery, be able to swipe back to where they were. And I would hope they would start tailoring the app to understand what articles you are liking the most and reading the most and tailor the content towards your preference while also expanding how many articles are available at one time. I can see this easily becoming my go to app for all tech articles in the future. Great start, and great design!

I enjoy using the app and like its concept. However, the app isNot as accessible with the VoiceOver screen reader on iOS 9.3.1 on my iPhone. Improve the VoiceOver accessibility and I will give it five stars.

Terrible

This new app by Cnet is great. I love the way it delivers tech news much better than email. Theyve hit a home run with this app.

I hale always loved Cnet one of the more respectable news sites for all things technology related. This new app allows me a fast resource to grab some fast headlines about things going on in the tech world & later when I have more time to spend I go on the main Cnet app to get a more in depth reading of something that interests me.

Love this app! Really helps me to stay on top of the top tech news!

Really nice app. Id recommend this to anyone who likes technology just as much as I do.
